ART INTERVENTION

Special Educational Needs Support

Working with small groups of children in need of emotional support, we offer creative sessions designed to give participants a sense of confidence and achievement through fun and varied art and craft projects. We do this over the course of one full term per group. The class has a nurturing and friendly atmosphere to help children feel confident and supported. Priority is placed on a relaxed, inclusive and non-judgemental environment. The Art Intervention has been a great success and we have seen clear benefits in children’s behaviour, well being and self-esteem.

“Heidi led 10 art sessions in school with children who are refugees and asylum seekers - the group being made from a number of year groups. They were led by Heidi in some fantastic art activities, culminating in designing and painting a mural and an exhibition to which family and friends were invited to. The children loved the group, which gave them a relaxed space to be themselves and talk about their experiences if they chose to. Heidi was well organised, very communicative, relaxed and friendly with the children, who loved their time with her.”
